Rejuvenation and Nutrition

Most people seem to think of nutrition as concerned with providing energy to keep them going in the next few hours. Like filling up the tank of the car for each day's journey. In reality that's only a small part of the role that nutrients play.
Every hour of your life your body tries to replace (with absolutely perfect new cells) about one billion dead or failing cells among the trillions that constitute your blood, bones, muscles and organs.
You are made up of about 100 Trillion cells and every one of them needs to be replaced over a period of some 7 to 10 years. (I should point out that some scientists don't believe brain cells are replaced, but recent research challenges that)
That's such a massive number that most of us can't get our minds around it. Try counting the blades of grass in 380,000 rugby pitches, or the number of seconds in 3 million years ... that's about it!
I said the body 'tries' to replace a billion cells every hour, because, if the correct nutrients are not there, your body can't do it. It will use what it has to rebuild the most critical cells and leave others in a sub-standard state. Result? A deteriorating body, growing old faster than it should and needing drug/medical intervention to keep it going.
Many leading health experts across the centuries have said in one set of words or another "You are what you eat". Conjures up an amusing world in this KFC/McD/BK world eh?
Not funny though ... if you don't provide your body with the right nutrients, not only will you be low in energy and brain power today, you'll be a health cripple, kept alive by pharmaceuticals for much of the rest of your days, instead of living from birth to death in abundant, vibrant health.
